Kooky Tales 005: Kooky St. Patrick’s Day Facts

Did you know St. Patrick was not born in Ireland, wasn’t a canonized saint, and didn’t actually drive the snakes out of Ireland? We learned a lot of kooky facts on this St. Patrick’s Day themed episode! Also, I’ve overed two new mics and a new mixing board, so next week’s episode should sound even better. We’re getting there!

Kooky Tales 004: Project Star Gate

In the 1970s the United States Government launched Project Star Gate, recruiting psychics in hopes that they could use their “remote viewing powers” to spy on the Soviet Union. Managed alternatively by the CIA and the Army, the project was officially shut down in 1995.

Kooky Tales 003: The Maury Island Incident

The summer of 1947 became known as the “Summer of Saucers” thanks to Kenneth Arnold’s sighting and the Roswell incident, but the Maury Island Incident in Washington State predates both of those incidents by just a few weeks and was the first reported sighting of a Man in Black.

Kooky Tales 002: The Faces of Belmez

In 1971, a woman in Spain was shocked when ghostly faces began appearing on her kitchen floor. When the family scrubbed the floor to remove the faces, the faces distored with pain. After the floor was torn up and replaced, the faces returned. The Faces of Belmez is one of my favorite tales, and the story behind the story is even more interesting.

Kooky Tales 001: The SS Watertown

In 1925, James Courtney and Michael Meegan, two sailors working on the SS Watertown oil tanker, accidentally suffocated to death. Although their bodies were buried at sea, the ghosts of the two seaman followed the ship all the way home. Sailors aboard the ship said the ghostly faces were recognizable as the two lost souls, and the captain even managed to capture the two ghoulish faces on film.
