I’m glad that you are back to reviewing games!
My experience with Defender of the Crown was wildly different than yours. I loved it as much as Lords of Conquest, and was thinking about LOC in relation to DOTC before you even mentioned it I thought that everything in the game was great except the jousting, which was impossible no matter how many times I did it. I was a few years younger, and played with a joystick, so maybe that is the difference.
Oh, I always thought that the romance scene was an eventual thing, not right away after the rescue. If so, that is really rough.
